This carriage house in historic downtown Troy, New York has been completely renovated from the ground up with the help from us at Urban Industrial Design. Just a few months’ prior, this building was bare bones – post and beam construction. Owner Kerry Fagan hired us to come in and put the final touches on the apartment.
The countertops, wood shelving and accent-wall (viewed in the pictures below) are all from authentic reclaimed barn wood from the city of Revena, New York. What started out as old barn wood filled with nails became these sleek and smooth counters and shelving units that you see here. The wood was milled to be straight and flattened to create a perfectly smooth countertop.
Other installed elements include a latched closet barn door and a sliding latched bathroom barn door constructed from old rough cut lumber. These two doors really tie the room together while bringing out an industrial but soft overall look.
Upstairs you will find an accent wall made from the same reclaimed barn wood. The beam construction and clean lines help tie together the overall reclaimed feel.
This one of a kind carriage house can be rented off Airbnb for a great cost! Be sure to check it out here
